Michael Jackson, Also known as the King of Pop. Born on 29 August 1958 in Gary in Indiana, Died on 25 June 2009 in Los Angeles in California. Michael Jackson was an American singer, dancer, and composer. He is considered one of the most successful, if not the most successful artists of the 20th century. Jackson distinguished himself by his recognizable voice and typical dance moves. Jackson was on stage as a member of The Jackson 5 at a very young age and started a solo career as a teenager. In the early 1980s, he was internationally one of the biggest pop stars. He achieved his greatest success with the album Thriller, which with 65 million copies sold is considered the best-selling album of all time. Jackson has sold between 300 and 400 million albums and singles worldwide. Jackson reinforced his music and image with striking video clips, in which his rhythmic dance style is clearly expressed. One of the most famous video clips, that of Thriller, lasts fourteen minutes. The clip for his single ‘Scream’, a duet with his sister Janet Jackson, cost seven million dollars. This clip has kept the record for the most expensive music video since 1995.

As the star of Jackson rose, however, his popularity began to decline. Partly as a result, the attention in the media shifted from his music to the rather eccentric character of Jackson and his private life. He was often portrayed as someone who lived completely separate from the ‘the big people’s world’ and preferred to spend his time with children and animals (Peter Pan’s syndrome). For these reasons, Jackson was often called Wacko Jacko in the media, a name he detested.

I’m gonna make a change, for once in my life. It’s gonna feel real good, gonna make a difference, gonna make it right. I’m starting with the man in the mirror, I’m asking him to change his ways and no message could have been any clearer. If you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself, and then make a change.

Everyone can change the world, Just start with the man in the mirror and others will follow. Don’t be afraid to stand for what you believe, even if that means standing alone.

May we meet again!
